Welcome to VisageID. Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy outlines how your data, especially your photos, is collected, used, and handled when you use our application.
1. Information We Collect and Why
Our goal is to be transparent. We only collect the data necessary to provide and improve our services.
- Photographs: The core function of our app involves processing your photos. This includes:
- Photos you take with the camera: We request Camera permission solely to allow you to capture new photos directly within the app for processing.
- Photos you upload from your gallery: We request Photo Library/Storage permission solely to allow you to select existing photos from your device for processing and to save the final edited photo back to your gallery.
- In-App Purchases: When you purchase additional features, the transaction is processed securely by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not collect, see, or store any of your personal payment information.
- Analytics Data: We use Firebase services to collect anonymous, non-personal usage data. This includes information like crash reports, feature usage frequency, and device type. This data helps us understand how our app is used, identify and fix bugs, and improve the overall user experience. It is not linked to your personal identity or your photos.
2. Face Data and Image Processing
VisageID processes user-uploaded photos, which may contain face data, for the sole purpose of creating official photo portraits. Here's how we handle your image data:
- On-Device Analysis: To help you meet official photo requirements, our app uses Google's ML Kit for on-device processing to analyze your photo for criteria like face detection, eye state, and expression. This analysis occurs entirely on your device, and no image data is sent to our servers or any third party for this purpose.
- Background Removal: To provide the background removal feature, we securely transmit your photo to a third-party service, PhotoRoom. The service processes the image to remove the background and returns the edited photo to you. We do not store your original or edited photos on our servers.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. We do not use your face data for identification, advertising, or any purpose other than providing the core functionality of the app. For more information on how our third-party partner handles your data, please review their privacy policy:
3. Data Retention and Deletion
- Your Photos: All photos (original and edited) are stored only on your device. They are saved in the app's private directory and can be deleted by you from within the app's "Saved Photos" screen. If you uninstall the app, these photos are deleted. We do not have access to your photos.
- Third-Party Retention: We do not control how long our third-party partner (PhotoRoom) retains images on their servers. Please refer to their privacy policy for details on their data retention practices.
4. Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
